Bye-bye 2018… hello 2019!

Bye-bye 2018… hello 2019!

Hello you lovely people! First I’d like to wish you all the very best for this new year! May it be filled with love, friendship, good health, and lots and lots of fun creative projects!

I took some time off during December and the holiday season… a bit of reflecting took place, and some necessary re-charging.

At the end of the year it is always interesting to have a look at statistics: seeing your most liked photos on Instagram (the collage as shown above, via TopNine, or BestNine), and the colors you used most during a particular period (below, via Year of Colour) is fun (I find it intriguing to see the color green pop up in last year’s mix).

And then there’s of course what you – the visitors of my blog – liked most!
A lovely mix of old and new; the Yarn Ends Bowl and my Crochet Mood Blanket remain all time favorites.

To be honest with you: on a personal level 2018 was not an easy year. An absolute low was losing my mother this fall after an intense sickbed, and seeing my dad struggle with the loss of his companion of 65 years.

Of course I’m sad about my mother’s passing away, but I’m trying to emphasize on the good times and memories we have of her.
It has made me realize once more how instrumental my mom has been to my creativity, and I could not be more thankful for that.
For one thing, I’m going to miss one of the biggest fans of my work…

Following my own advice – and with my mom in mind – it feels even more special that creatively spoken my 2018 turned out to be a fantastic year!
My blog had a make-over, with my “2018-word-of-the-year” (focus) I did finish a lot of projects, I started my “maRRose Craft Café” – something I wanted to do for a long time – (new dates are up on the blog, right here), I opened my own web shop, I published my first paid patterns, and … found a new crafty love: punch needle!

One of my favorite punch needle projects in 2018
… love this one too …

And through this new love, I even found another new love: teaching!
How I’ve loved-loved-loved giving my “Punch like a Pro”-workshops all over the country, spreading the fun craft that punch needling is, as well as showing people the fantastic things you can create once you master the technique!

A small selection of the projects my students worked on…
Punch needling this application on my jeans jacket was FUN!

The year 2019 already holds the promise of numerous interesting (plus new&exciting!) creative adventures, and punch needle workshops are definitely part of it!
On the roster as of now:
* Thursday January 24th I’ll be back in Heythuysen at Wilhelmien & Jacqueline’s beautiful shop “Brei & Allerlei”;
* Saturday February 9th, I’m teaching at very inspirational “Wolplein” again;
* I’m also very excited about a new-to-me workshop location: “Ansje Handmade” in Naaldwijk, where I’ll teach Saturday March 16.
Links to sign up can be found on the workshop page on the blog (here).

It’s kind of silly, but no matter how much I love the holiday season, I’m always kind of happy when January comes along: a fresh, new year, full of fun and exciting things that lie ahead – I like that idea, and knowing I’ll be sharing them here with you only adds to the pleasure. It’s exactly what I wish your new year to be as well: filled to the brim with enjoyment!
2019 here we come!

Happy crafting!
Marianne xx
