Yesterday I was at the festive book launch of a won-der-ful new book; as a matter of fact I’m so enthusiastic about this book, I hardly know where to begin describing this absolutely one of a kind and beautiful book!
Let me start with the authors, yes, authorS: this book is the fruit of 4 creative friends’ labor.
Petra, Lidy, Miriam, and Bregje are the talented crafty women that made “Craft Dates”: an utterly inspiring book filled with crochet, knitting, diy, and sewing projects, and even an occasional and delicious recipe has been thrown in.
Thanks to Eline – their fab editor – the book’s looks are a feast for the eyes too.
The idea behind the book is to do something crafty together with a bunch of friends – to have a ‘craft date’. That sounds like a great idea to begin with, don’t you think? But wait… this is not ‘just’ a craft date… it’s a special craft date, one with a twist, or bonus if you will.
The bonus is the following: each friend prepares one crafty project for the date, which is supposed to be a total surprise to the other friends. All things needed are collected – preferably tailored to the other friends’ taste & favorite colors – wrapped up nicely, and presented as a gift to the other friends, after which everyone works on that very project together.
Petra, Lidy, Miriam and Bregje have been on many craft dates already, usually setting a full day aside, thus giving each participant the opportunity to prepare a project, and be surprised by the other 3 friends’ ideas, merrily crafting the day away. How fun is that?
Going through the book you’ll not only come to fully understand the concept of ‘craft dating’, but will feel inspired by the enormous variety of lovely projects, as well as enjoy – as I said – the excellent lay-out of the book.
You can purchase the book online via www.bol.com.
Back in October 2017, the ladies organized an even more special ‘craft date’: a ‘secret craft date’. They had invited some 20 girls, and had prepared – along the lines of their own ‘craft date principles’ – a fun creative project.
At the end of the evening we, the attendees, were given a gorgeously wrapped box, that we – contrary to their own guidelines – were not to open until we would be home.
Just unpacking the pretty box the following day felt like christmas came early… in each box was all the material to create one of the projects for the book.
The nicest way to be asked to test a pattern, I found. Also, it’s safe to state that ‘style’ and ‘classy’ are the ‘Craft Dates’-ladies’ middle names.
Now that the book is out, our secret projects are not secret anymore, and it’s fun to see what everyone created.
I made “Lidy’s Gehaakte Tas” (“Lidy’s Crocheted Bag”), and loved doing so!
My biggest problem at the moment is “what to craft first”, since this book is jam-packed with projects I really want to make!
I think it’s pretty obvious by now that I consider this book a ‘must have’ for every creative person, and this is where you’ve come to read maybe the best part of this post: the lovely Craft Dates-friends have generously allowed me to give away one – signed! – copy of this fantastic book. All you need to do is leave a comment, telling me with whom you would like to have a ‘craft date’.
The giveaway is open for all (but, please note that the book is in Dutch), and will end Wednesday February 21, 2018 – 22:00 (CET).
Make sure I can reach you via email – if I do not hear back from the winner within 24 hrs after notification, a new winner will be drawn.
Good luck, and have a happy, crafty weekend,
edit: this giveaway is now closed – a winner has been drawn and notified – thank you all for participating
