“Miriam Shawl” – pattern

(English version, for Dutch click here)

You can basically use any kind and any amount of yarn, but in this particular shawl I’ve used:
* Phildar’s Phil Flocon “Blanc” (3), hook size 7.0 mm; Miriam crocheted hers with Phildar’s Phil Mohair “Blanc” (3), hook size 6.5 mm

For the border I picked:
* “Fresco” by Borgo de Pazzi (1), hook size 6.0 mm, and Miriam used:
Phildar’s Phil Partner Baby, in color “Sirene/8” (1) and Phil Diamant, in color “Vitrail/7” (1), hook size 5.5 mm

(US terms used)

Pattern Shawl:

row 1: chain 90 (= foundation chain); starting in the 3rd chain from your hook you’ll crochet 1 single crochet in every chain (88sc); turn your work;

row 2: chain3+2 double crochet in the 1st sc (= the last sc made in the previous row); * skip 2 stitches, 3dc in next stitch **; repeat from * to ** until you’ve reached the end of your work; turn your work;

row 3: chain4+3dc in the 1st stitch (= the last dc made in the previous row); in every space between two 3dc-clusters made in row 2, you’ll crochet 3dc; repeat until you’ve reached the end of this row; right in the space where you see the 2dc and ch3 made at the start of row 2, you’ll crochet: 3dc plus 1 treble; turn your work;

row 4 and following: repeat row 3 until you’ve either run out of yarn, or think your shawl is big enough 🙂

Pattern Border:

row 1: going down 1.0 mm in hook size, with the yarn of your choice and the right side of your shawl facing you, you’ll crochet single crochet stitches all around: 1sc in every dc, 3sc-in-1 stitch in every corner, 2sc in the sides of the chain4 and/or treble stitches (1sc around the ch4 or tr, 1sc in the base of the ch4 or tr); slip stitch into the 1st sc, ch1; do not fasten off; do not turn your work;

row 2: with the same yarn, you’ll crochet one more round of sc all around your shawl: 1sc in every sc made in the previous round, 3sc-in-1 stitch in every corner; slip stitch into the 1st sc;  if your next round is going to be crocheted with a different kind of yarn, you’ll fasten off; do not turn your work;

row 3: with a different (or the same) yarn, you’ll crochet: ch1+1sc in the 1st sc of the previous round, *skip 2 stitches; into the next stitch you’ll crochet: 3dc-ch1-3dc; skip 2 stitches, 1sc in next stitch **; repeat from * to ** all around; slip stitch into top of 1st stitch; if you want to crochet your next round with a different kind of yarn, you’ll fasten off; do not turn your work;
