Hello, you lovely people out there! It’s so good to be back here – I sure hope you’re all doing well!
It’s hard to believe it’s been 4 months since I last published a blog post – one thing’s for sure: this 4-months-blog-break definitely was not a planned one. Trying to look back and figure out what happened, is not giving any answers, other than “life got in the way”… Happens to all of us, doesn’t it?
Anyway, I figured it’s best not to dwell on that much longer, and instead look to the future and put some life in this dear old blog of mine with new fun, inspiring and exciting things!
“Fun and inspiring” is most surely applicable to the projects in one of Tuva Publishings‘ latest books, “Designer Amigurumi”; “exciting” is the fact that Tuva has sent me an extra copy of this great book to give away to one of you (so we’re already off to a great start, don’t you think ;-).
I truly loved almost ALL of the projects gathered in “Designer Amigurumi” (link to buy on Amazon: here).
When I first looked at the – very handy – ‘project gallery’ in the front of the book, I knew I wanted to make all of the cute, adorable amigurumi listed there!
Let me quickly sum up why I love this book:
* Tuva has done a fab job in getting a whole bunch of talented amigurumi designers together (nine), giving the book such wonderful diversity;
* Even if you’ve never done any amigurumi before: there are 10+ pages at the beginning of the book, explaining everything you need to know to get you started (what materials to use, general info on making amigurumi, how to adept the designs, crochet terminology&basics (in general, as well as for amigurumi), special stitches used in amigurumi, finishing your project/assembling your amigurumi pieces, an explanation of other techniques&stitches used in the book (eg tapestry crochet, loop stitches), embroidery stitches.
A wealth of useful information: very well done.
* The patterns are as well-written and clear as the “get you started” crochet info: I made two projects, designed by two different people, and zoomed through both patterns.
Photos of exactly the things that at first glance you’ll go “hmm… what do they mean here?” have been added to the pattern descriptions: that too has been done very cleverly.
As you can see, I could not stop after making my (Tournicote‘s/Sanderine Deveze‘s) “Backpacking Cat”… I simply had to crochet Tiny Curl‘s/Kristina‘s “Happy Girl” too: I so love how they both turned out!
I only see one setback… unfortunately “crochet time” is no part of the book – because, honestly, I could do with some extra time to crochet a couple more darling & delightful dolls and animals from this book… (just check out the ‘designer amigurumi’-hashtag on Instagram here… so fun).
If you want a chance to win this book and want to be part of the giveaway, all you need to do is leave a comment here, telling me why you’d like to win a copy of “Designer Amigurumi”.
