You know that it’s not been an extremely good week crochet-wise when you have to think really hard, trying to come up with projects worked on during the past week (let alone projects that were finished)…..
Nonetheless, it was mostly a fun filled week, kicked off with a delightful yarny trip with lovely Miriam.
Our first stop was at “Wol” in Haarlem – we felt like kids in a candy store!
And look what gorgeous purchases I made ……(please do notice too how well I restrained myself)…..
It being market day here in Amstelveen, Miriam couldn’t possibly go home without visiting the famous “Wolman”, who carries a lot of my beloved “Alize”. It was there that I decided to get the first balls to – finally – begin Carter’s Chevron Blanket: three shades of grey, black, and a beautiful teal, all “Alize Superlana Midi” – a mix of acrylic (75%) and wool, supersoft and wonderful to crochet with.
The pattern I’m using is Ilaria Chiaratti‘s, to be found in the “Mollie Haken” book that I’ve had for a while (English equivalent here). It’s a fantastic project to be working on!
Not crochet related at all, but at least as much pleasant and interesting, was a visit to the current Keith Haring exposition in the Kunsthal in Rotterdam with Quinn last weekend.
We both enjoyed this exhibit tremendously, and we can highly recommend your going there!
I love Haring’s statement: “Art is for Everybody” – so true!
This week’s best news, however, is how well Carter’s foot is healing. Tuesday’s x-rays showed all hardware (plate, 2 pins, 7 screws) is still positioned perfectly, and the pieces of bone (taken from his hip early September) are growing nicely into place.
This resulted in him getting a cast and two crutches, with which he’s allowed to try and “walk”. To see him standing on two feet again after more than 3 months sure was a joyous moment……
Wishing you all a very happy weekend,
love,
Marianne xx
So pleased for you that Carter has some good news – you must all be very happy:)
Thank you very much, Sheila – that’s very sweet of you! Oh, yes, we are! He still has a long, bumpy road ahead of him as far as recovery’s concerned, but we’re very happy with each stage that proves he’s on the right track. Marianne xx
Thanks for sharing your pics from the Haring Exhibition. I love his work. What a thrill. And lovely the heat the good news
My pleasure, Kerry – I love his work too ….
And thank you, that’s very sweet of you! Marianne xx
