The shawl has a so called right-angled triangle shape, which means it has two straight sides, and increases are only made on one side of the shawl/on the triangle’s hypotenuse.
Its design basically consists of 3 sections. Each section has a set or combination of stitches, that are repeated throughout the pattern. The sections are:
In the extensive 15 page-pattern you’ll find the instructions to crochet the sections’ order in which I crocheted my original “Lemvig Shawl”, but you’ll quickly see that you can very easily change sections around, thus adapting the design to be more “you” and unique.
Not only can you play around with the order in which you crochet your sections, you can also freely adjust the height of each section: crochet versatility to the max!
The kind of yarn and the colors (suggestions given in the pattern) you’ll be using will put their stamp on the look and feel of your shawl as well; think merino versus cotton and/or two subtle colors versus two strikingly different ones –> big differences.
All in all you’ll have the freedom to either crochet a rather classical shawl, or a more modern looking version; a summer, or winter adaptation :-).
Optional are the little puff stitches that add beautiful texture, or will even put a bit of whimsy into your shawl in case you opt for multi-color puff stitches as I did in one of my black&white versions.
