Tunisian Cushion – ‘t Voorpand

The best thing about working on projects behind the scenes – if you ask me – is the moment when I can share them here with you.
And when I’m able to not only present the secret project itself, but a rather wonderful giveaway as well, it only adds to the joy.

Lovely Caroline from “t Voorpand” in Marknesse contacted me a while ago, to ask whether I’d be willing to cooperate with her re one of Bregina Tuinstra‘s designs.
The pattern concerned is a tunisian cushion cover, crocheted in the round and made with the beautiful “Fonty”-yarn I had gotten to know via Bert Noorderijk/BN Agenturen, when working on the “Let’s Get Chunky”-magazine earlier this year.

After I had chosen my own set of 5 Fonty-colors needed for this cushion Caroline sent these, the pattern, the double sided tunisian crochet hook (and a sweet little gift) to me, so I could get started right away.

I’m a bit embarrassed to confess I did not follow my own advice as given in my book … (“Diving head-first into a project before reading and understanding the pattern, never turned out well for me. I’ve learned to take the time to read through everything first …”), yeah, right …
You see, when I unpacked the crochet hook, I thought “how on earth am I going to fit all these stitches on such a short hook”, and emailed Caroline immediately *insert blushing emoji here*.
As it turned out all too soon, of course I was given the correct equipment, AND instructions how to work with this short hook, as I found out minutes later – big oops.

At that point I still considered this as a bit of a complicated technique, but – again, haha – was very quickly proven wrong. I read Bregina’s instructions, watched this YouTube-tutorial and literally zoomed through the pattern.
The cushion is 40 cm x 40 cm, and for mine I used “Fonty Ambiance” in colors: 240, 306, 323, 324 and 340. It really was a very enjoyable and fun project that I finished so fast, I don’t even have progress shots to show you!
Plus, I truly love how it turned out, and I’m not the only one: the minute Quinn laid her eyes on it, it was decided that my “Fonty Tunisian Cushion” would move to her apartment, and I love that too!

I told you this post was about a wonderful giveaway as well: ‘t Voorpand is allowing me to give away the yarn pack (5 balls of the glorious Fonty Ambiance) + the pattern + the special crochet hook to make this beautiful cushion cover … TO TWO PEOPLE!!
The winners even get to pick their own set of colors! How awesome is that?
Also, we will ship internationally, so there’s a chance for everyone!
