I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun I had working on my 2nd project for CraftKitchen!
Looking at my CK-treasury boxes, my mother-in-law reminded me this weekend that I had made little treasury boxes before….. some 20+ years ago.
At that time we lived in the US (in beautiful&picturesque Hollis, NH), and as a member of the Hollis Woman’s Club, I was their “Strawberry Festival Chairperson” in 1994.
The annual “Strawberry Festival” is a wonderful joint HWC/“Hollis Town Band” community fundraising event. At the time it was quite the undertaking for a Dutch girl that had just made a life changing move from The Netherlands to America.
However, to make a long story short: the festival was a success, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process, and we raised a good amount of money.
To thank the many, many volunteers, I painted and decorated little boxes – all in strawberry colors/theme, sewed small bags from strawberry-fabric to gift them in and those too, were a success.
I had totally forgotten about them…..but even found some photos in an old album.
Subconsciously they must have played their little role in the making of my latest treasury boxes.Adding the little notes, as described in the tutorial, will make them not only a perfect gift-from-the-heart for Mother’s Day, but basically for any occasion when you’ll want to share how much that special person in your life means to you (charming little project to be doing with kids of any age too).
Turning them into a button box or jewelry box is just as easy – the possibilities are endless….
