When I first started crocheting again in 2010 the pattern I went for was a very basic granny square – a good choice for someone who had only crocheted one project some 40 years earlier.
Lucy’s wonderful website (Attic24, link here) turned out to be very helpful; her granny square tutorial gave me the confidence I could do this and so all I needed now was yarn. Off to “De Wolman” on my weekly market I went. It must have been the fabulous range of gorgeous colors that drew me to his selection of cottons (“Steinbach”, no longer available here), and I remember feeling like a kid in a candy store.
Later on I found my beloved Katia (as well as Catania, Phildar, Cotone, Rico) and I so enjoyed working with these cottons it never occurred to me that it would be fun too to crochet with other yarns.
That is until 2 or 3 years ago, when I discovered another favorite of mine, Alize! Ah ….. I love experimenting with their yarns as well!
So right now my problems are not restricted to having too little time and too many ideas to create lovely projects, there’s the added …. eum ….. challenge of what yarn to pick for which project. As I found out when crocheting the “Dijon”-blanket and -cushion (here and here): one pattern, two yarns and a totally different look!
Finding these luscious hand spun yarns for this week’s Treasury Tuesday is definitely not making things easier ……..;)
These two pretties are on my wish list:
Which ones would you put on yours?
Have a great week!
Love,
Marianne xx
Marianne xx
Yet again our worlds collide – I learned to crochet granny squares as a child and only took up crochet again a couple of years ago! I’m constantly amazed at the gorgeous variety of yarn available nowadays and love trying new types.
I’m at the point where I’m not surprised any more ….. 😉
I know: there’s so much beautiful yarn out there (and I want to try them all)! Marianne xx
